In today's unpredictable economy, the idea of job security with any company appears to be a thing of the past. Large company layoffs, golden handshakes, mergers, leveraged buyouts, company acquisitions and similar business moves have left people of all ages a place to work they need to live.
While there may be some compensation after being let go by the company you work for, this money will not last forever. Or, if eligible for unemployment benefits, thisalso has a limited period of time relating to the control. Sooner or later, job hunting will be necessary.
But it is only individuals who were driven out of jobs that this booklet can help. How happy I am that in the area is inside? You time to do something different with your career? If so, you're not alone. You have a lot of company in wanting to change their goals and focus in life.
Maybe you just turned 40 and realize that you arethe second half of a career that you never really liked. Some studies have shown that working in a job because you must, because you do not like, may have some effect on the lifespan of an individual. Why take years off your life when it is not necessary?
The problem for most people in these situations is that you are not sure where to start. They have both been thrown into this situation unexpectedly and are trying to make decisions on the run or they know thatat least they have a salary, so as to postpone thinking about trying to focus on a job hunt for something they really like to do.
Well, cheer up! This brochure will help you to re-focus, identify the skills you have, restrict the type of job that you enjoy doing and give you a number of outlets to gather information from in prospects of landing that job that will take you through happy in your retirement years. The best news is that this should not belong, drawn out process. You can label your transferable skills and acquire relevant data in a few days! Is not a year or two effort we're talking about.
The secret is knowing where to look, what to ask and how to limit the type of work that had not only enjoy, but to be quite good, too! So much of this is to understand what makes you tick! Who better to identify this you? This brochure will give you some guidance in doing so, but it is up to youto take the time to analyze what it really is that you like and want to do. Know the strengths and weaknesses will give you the power to change your life!
Identify your skills
What are you good at?
Have you ever thought? In a real critical, analytical way? You have to sit and where your skills and abilities?
This may seem basic, but it is not. Even if you tried to start a list, it is very likely wrongenough or deep enough and thus missed a few shops for your skills, which could very well unlock the key to your future career.
The following exercise can help to identify real skills not currently in use (or perhaps use) and this will set the stage to see if they are transferable to another sector.
There are three main categories of skill identification. You are dealing with people, things and information everyday. In each category, this requires a skill orcombination of different skills. One could also understand the scope of his abilities in an area. You probably know what you're not good at or what you do not like to do, but identifying the exact skills is not necessarily easy.
People. Let us share your abilities to deal with people in the world of work with individuals and working with groups.
People: In collaboration with individuals individually, you are good at:
* Communicate in a direct conversation or on the phone?* Communicate well with the written word? * Helping, serving or receiving and carrying out instructions? * The people of the court, or by helping put together two people? * Counseling, monitoring, coaching and counseling? * Teaching, instructing, training or mentoring? * To persuade, motivate or sell? * Assess, evaluate or interpret the others? * Diagnose, treat or cure?
Groups: In collaboration with institutions, companies or associations, you are good at:
* Makepresentations? Communicate with the written word like a newsletter *? * Public speaking? * Leader or moderate a group discussion? * Preparation seminars or other training events? * The formation of large groups? * Advice or advise? * Leader or take the initiative? * Coaching others in recreation or exercise? * Entertainment, acting, singing, amusing or inspiring? * Motivate, persuade or sell? * Negotiate a solution of some kind? * Following through, getting things finished, producing? *managing or running a business? * Control? * The start or the beginning of a concept, idea or business?
Think carefully about each of these elements. Respond in a fair and transparent. There is no reason to try to deceive anyone. This is not a personality test! You're just trying to frame your taste about dealing with people, individually or in groups.
Compile the final list of yes and no answers and write them. Keep on hand for the futurereference.
Things. There are essentially six main categories of work with various things. These things are identified as objects (tools, instruments), equipment and machinery or vehicles, materials like cloth, wood and clay, your body, buildings or houses and the increase or growing things.
Objects. Do you have expertise in dealing with food, utensils, tools, or as in:
* Handling? * The washing? * The preparation? * The maintenance? * The production? *create? * Repairs? * Cleaning? * Knowledge? * Cooking? * Store? Equipment. Are you good at working with some type of machinery or vehicles in:
* Help? * Control? * Editing? * Repairs? * Cleaning? * Dismantling? * The maintenance? * OP?
Materials. What is your skill level with items such as clay, jewelry, metal, wood, stone and cloth as regards:
* Cut? * Painting? * Crafting? * The restoration? * Weave? * For sewing? * Carving? *molding? * What? * Body? * Sculpture?
Your body. Are you good to use:
* The hands? * Motor coordination? * Coordination body? * Fingers? * Your eyes? * Your eyes and hands in coordination? * Your strength? * Your strength?
Buildings. You have a particular affinity and ability to:
* Build? * Remodeling? * Decoration? * Design?
Sensitization or cultivation. Are you able to successfully:
* Trainanimals? * Treat animals? * Garden? * Landscape? * Raise plant or animal or vegetable or mineral?
This is the hands-on class. Do you have manual dexterity and, if so, what specifically can be done well? More importantly, do you like? Many people have hobbies they love into full-time, work pays. The list of skills they have as being associated with any of these categories. Also list the things you enjoy doing, too. Noting that the work you love so muchavoid things that I hate how things that you love to do.
Information. The last category in this part of the evaluation process is to see how good you are and how much you enjoy working with ideas, concepts, information, data and specific technologies. There are four categories to deal with. You like to create, store, manage and deploy this information to good use?
Creation. Are you particularly good at:
* The collection of informationobservation? * The collection of information through research? * Search of data? * Imagining ideas or concepts? * Invent? * Sensory impressions? * Design?
Storing. Once you've assembled the information you are good at:
* Storage or filing documents in the archives, microfiche, audio or video? * Accounting? * Storage Computer? * Retrieve the information stored once? * Helping others to recover the information? * Keep track of the data? * Learning by heart? * Shootingor registration? Management. Something must be done with the data or information that you have assembled and stored. Are you good at:
* Analyze the data? * Organizing? * Classification? * Planning? * The accounting? * Registered? * Painting? * Dimension? * Problem solving? * Evaluate your data? * Program? * Priority? * The decision-making? * Dramatize? * Comparison with other data? Using the data. Once you've decided to use the information, you are good at:
* The spread ofinformation? * Demonstrate? * Put some use? * Results to individuals or groups? * The publication? * Report?
At this point, you should complete your positives and negatives (what you do not like or are not very good at) in this category. You now have three categories and should bring together the lists of advantages and disadvantages to see what your strong point (s) are. You may find that you love to watch people and the need for information and writing a script andthen put on video or film. This comes from seriously analyzing each of these categories and find a consistency in what you like and what you are good a. The next step would be to look at more specific rather than generic.
Specifications: It is time to look at the items you specifically like to work. The following list should help you check yes or no to a number of things. Keep in mind that this is not an exhaustive list and you should add yourthoughts of this or objects like or dislike to make it more complete. Remember, this is your list, your career, your life, so make it as similar to that for you as possible. We are simply making suggestions to help your frame of reference.

The list should be fairly complete. If you followed your true nature, you should begin to see a pattern; similarities indicating the type of work that were intended to do. If your interest is in film and cameras and film, which will clear your reviewlikes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses of these lists. Now you need to refine and focus.
Reducing the Territory
Next. Let's look at specific knowledge that you can 'have. Scroll through the list below, add to this list and the knowledge that you currently have. Second, scroll through the list again and identify the knowledge that you want to have. This will give you two current snapshots: what you know now and what you would like to know in the future. Latterwill define your future educational goals. It may be in areas you think you'd enjoy if only we had a little 'more than education.
No problem. It may be that a little 'more learning is needed to advance in what you really want to do. There's no reason you can not take lessons in those disciplines. There's no reason you can not work in an entry-level position in this field and learn as you go. Often, a company can pay for your education future, if it is in the abilityareas of their field. I want the list as well as your current knowledge.

List of all the fields you like primarily organized by knowledge and love. Fields list that interests you and I think you'd like, but they need more training and education. Keep on hand and these separate lists.
Now it is time to decide position. Are you tired of where you live? Want to live somewhere else? Thisthe city has grown but have never seen anywhere else? Did you go somewhere on vacation and thought how great it would be to live there?
Part of the area down and focusing your efforts to finding a job is to select the area you want to practice your skills and talents and apply them to a wage paying job. There is progress if you get a job like, but still love everything else about your life situation. Finding agood job also means finding the location that you like.
So, leave the library and see a couple of publications like Places Rated Almanac and identify the top five places to live. Circumscribe an area and then cities. Then find the number for the local Chamber of Commerce and see how you can get more information about not only the place itself, but the holdings in the area who are in the field (s) have reducedyou. These local chambers are happy to send information and would be equally happy to see you move and become a member of the community. There are an awful lot of places to live in this country. Take this opportunity!
You say you're interested in Arizona? Where? Phoenix? Tucson? Kingman? Bullhead City? Choose an area and start collecting information. If you can see, by all means go out and see.
Now you have areas and locationsand lists of companies in these sectors. Now is the time to narrow it. Select the two areas and hone in on finding work.
Update your resume. There are dozens of books out there on this topic. Craft is the way the experts suggest. Doing it with the powers that, if he says more about you than where you actually worked. Knowing the local school programs in the areas of your choice, if you need further training in the areas you want to do more with. Notmove anywhere that does not have jobs in areas that you like and are good to or plan to improve your skills.
Finally, begin to make contact with staff. Find out if there are local job hotlines and other identification features of work. Sure, get in contact with specific firms that have already been identified as a possibility.
