It seems that the Internet is becoming the 'vidernet'. By sharing more and more sites that appear on screen and more advertisers to their advertising budgets online video predictions of the visionaries in recent years seems to be coming to fruition.
According to a study by Google and AOL conducted by TNS market insight and information group, 75 percent of respondents reported watching online video more than they did a year ago and more than half expect to lookmore video online next year.
Some 78% believe that online video ads provide as much or more of an opportunity to learn about a product or service on television, and 63% said they prefer video sites to include advertising if it helps keep content free. Apparently the online community that embraces video is much more readily than expected.
Here are some other numbers to see if you still need convincing: 64% of respondents have taken action after seeing an onlineVideo, 44% goes to the advertiser's site, 33% looking for a product or service, 22% visit an actual store off-line, and 21% of the advertised product in discussions with friends or family. So, not only for online video more business, you get the ball rolling on that elusive buzz marketing campaign.
Responses came from 2,394 online users between 18 and 54 years. The study also found that online video ads result in 32% of viewers also describing the brand as innovative, creative as 32% and 30% as entertainment. Who woulda thunk '?
Online video has become an effective form of advertising that the big broadcast networks are jumping on the bandwagon. NBC, NBC Universal, Disney-ABC, and others are scrambling to get their networks up and running online.
According to a study conducted by DoubleClick's main source of video information, consumers are about three times more likely to play an online video> For units as they are to click through a standard JPG or GIF ad.
As technology attempts to play catch-up with the appetite of consumers' advertising edgy, informative and relevant, online video technology is poised to lead the race in the realization of substantial revenue for businesses at the forefront.
